Symphony No. 3 in G minor, Op. 36
$40.00
By Louise Farrenc | Duration: ca. 40 min.
Symphony No. 3 in G minor, Op. 36 was completed in 1847 and premiered in 1849 by the Société des concerts du Conservatoire in Paris. The program featured Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, yet Farrenc’s work was praised for its strength and originality. Critics noted the symphony’s formal clarity, lyrical writing, and dynamic orchestration, especially in the expressive second movement and energetic scherzo. Though large-scale symphonic writing by women was rare in 19th-century France, this work affirmed Farrenc’s place in the Romantic symphonic tradition.
