Symphony in E minor, Op. 32 “Gaelic” – II. Alla Siciliana

$20.00

By Amy Beach | Edited by Chris A Trotman | Duration: ca. 7 min.

Beach’s monumental orchestral work featuring Irish folk melodies was premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896. It marked the first successful performance and publication of a symphony by a woman in America, and it earned Beach national and international recognition. Movement II Alla Siciliana features the Irish folk song, “Goirtin Ornadh” (“The Little Field of Barley”) and is praised for its sweetness and melodicism.
