Sonata for Orchestra
$32.00
By Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee | Orchestrated by David Alexander Rahbee | Duration: ca. 16 min.
The original Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 25 was commissioned by Angel Ramón Rivera at the Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts in 1986, for their annual contemporary music seminar. The work implemented the familiar sonata and rondo forms while building on the 12-tone row tradition while fusing itself with the post-romantic languages of Barber and Ginastera. This modern orchestration by Dianne’s son David builds upon the colors of the original piano work, breathing new life into one of the composer’s most classic pieces.
